Slackpack GASlackpack? What is slackpacking? Simply defined, it is hiking a section of a trail without a fully loaded backpack. It gives you the option to carry only what you need for a typical day hike. It may even give you the ability to cover a little more trail, but don't be too confident...the mountains in Georgia can be rough! There are various opinions about slackpacking: some people support it, some oppose it... all for different reasons. But this is your hike, so form your own opinion. If you choose to slackpack a section (or all) of the AT in Georgia, we're here to help you make that happen. We have two sample "schedules" outlined below to "slack" you all the way through Georgia, but there are other possibilities and many combinations... whatever suits your needs. And, feel free to use one of our small day packs instead of your own. At the end of the day, we'll be glad to meet you at the trailhead with your backpack, or you may choose to return to the hostel for a hot shower and soft bed.
